Two people died and six people were injured after a shooting in Auckland city centre, hours before the Women’s World Cup is due to kick off in the city.
New Zealand prime minister Chris Hipkins said the gunman was also dead and there was no national security risk or rise in the national threat level. He confirmed that that the World Cup would proceed as planned.
