Coote deemed to have brought football into disreputeSacked by PGMOL last year on back of damaging videos
The former Premier League referee David Coote has been banned by Uefa from any officiating activity until June 2026.
Coote’s contract as an elite referee with Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) was terminated in December after a video emerged showing him making derogatory comments about Liverpool and their former manager Jürgen Klopp. A separate video also showed Coote taking cocaine. The latter incident took place during the 2024 European Championship, where the 42-year-old was an official.
