Japanese stars shine as Dodgers beat Cubs in MLB’s Tokyo season opener

Five Japanese players appear in Dodgers’ 4-1 winRest of MLB teams start their season next week

The Dodgers were a long way from Los Angeles on Tuesday but with Shohei Ohtani and two more Japanese stars they were the home team for Tokyo fans in a historic MLB season-opening 4-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Ohtani had two hits and scored twice, with starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto getting the win for five innings work. Japanese stars were prominent in Tuesday’s game: there were five in total between the two clubs, and Shoto Imanaga started for the Cubs as he faced off against his compatriot Yamamoto.
