Lewis Hamilton second, Lando Norris thirdWorld champion started sixth on the grid
Max Verstappen displayed both patience and precision control to take victory at the US Grand Prix but it was ultimately the relentless pace of his Red Bull that proved decisive in a tense race in Austin. The world champion and his team were faced with a determined effort from the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton, who was second, and the McLaren of Lando Norris, who was third, but had their measure once more.
Norris had taken the lead at the opening corner of the Circuit of the Americas and drove a consummate race in his resurgent car, while his team and Mercedes tried their best with tyre strategy to take the fight to Red Bull but ultimately Verstappen’s race pace proved indomitable, as it has all season.
