Black Cats delighted to appoint ‘progressive coach’Beale was sacked as Rangers manager two months ago
Sunderland have announced the appointed of Michael Beale as manager on a contract until summer 2026. The club have been monitoring Beale for some time and were keen to appoint a manager who will help the development of young players and encourage an attractive style of play. Beale succeeds Tony Mowbray, who was sacked by the Championship club earlier this month.
Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said: “We have monitored Michael’s career for some time and we are delighted to have reached an agreement for him to become our new head coach. He has an excellent and well-founded reputation for developing players and he is an outstanding progressive coach, who is aligned with our playing identity and naturally fits within our structure alongside Mike Dodds and the wider team.
