Celtic fined by Uefa for fan incidents during home Champions League match

Celtic fined over a number of incidents in draw with AtléticoSanctions include €17,500 penalty over ‘provocative message’

Celtic have been fined €29,000 (£25,224) for incidents involving their supporters at last month’s Champions League draw at home to Atlético Madrid.

The club were fined €17,500 (£15,222) by Uefa for displaying “a provocative message of an offensive nature”. European football’s governing body also imposed fines of €8,000 euros (£6,960) for their supporters blocking public passageways and €3,500 (£3,044) for the lighting of fireworks.

This story was amended after a previous version stated that Uefa had fined Celtic after fans displayed Palestine flags. Uefa has confirmed this was not the reason for the fines imposed.
