Gavin Sheehan steers 16-1 shot to comfortable victory Monbeg Genius third with Eldorado Allen home fourth
Datsalrightgino, from Jamie Snowden’s stable in Lambourn, outstayed Mahler Mission after the final fence to win the Coral Gold Cup, the second-richest handicap chase of the season after the Grand National at Aintree in April.
Mahler Mission was still going strongly when he took up the running after the third-last, but Gavin Sheehan had moved Datsalrightgino into his slipstream and, while the leaders were in the air together over the last, the 16-1 chance had the stronger head of steam and kept on for a comfortable success.
