Brook recognised for stellar 12 months at international levelBeaumont wins for second time after Ashes double century
Harry Brook and Tammy Beaumont have been named as the leading cricketers in England in the Professional Cricketers’ Association awards. Brook won the PCA men’s young player of the year in 2021 and 2022 – a crown that has now passed to Somerset’s James Rew – but the 24-year-old batsman secured the main title on Monday at the end-of-season awards after a remarkable 12 months at international level.
The Yorkshireman’s best work came last winter, four centuries spread across the tours of Pakistan and New Zealand before a solid first Ashes series in which he played a pivotal role in the run chase at Headingley. White-ball returns also led to a place in the England squad that begins its World Cup defence against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
