England manager Gareth Southgate has spoken of his opposition to the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after a spate of recent incidents in the Premier League, culminating in Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to Tottenham where they had a goal wrongly disallowed.
Southgate isn’t a fan of the technology and believes the referee’s decisions need to be respected. It comes as Southgate announced his 26-man squad for October’s matches against Australia and Italy, with the Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and West Ham’s Jarred Bowen included in the side.
