The Indigenous Australians minister, Linda Burney, has launched a stinging attack on the opposition leader, Peter Dutton, for taking the name of late Yolŋu leader and voice campaigner Yunupingu “in vain” while campaigning against the referendum.
Burney has called for Dutton to apologise for referring to the longtime advocate for recognition as the opposition leader confusingly sought to paint positive social outcomes in north-east Arnhem Land as a reason to oppose the Indigenous voice referendum.
