Goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak gave Newcastle a two-goal lead before Federico Chiesa scored a late consolation for Liverpool. The Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said: “With such a long wait for a trophy, this will be a day that I’m sure everyone will never forget.” More than 32,000 Newcastle fans made the journey to Wembley and they celebrated the victory into the night.
