‘One of the greatest Test matches of all time,’ Australian PM saysAlbanese pays tribute to ‘remarkable’ leadership of Cummins against England
Pat Cummins’ overnight Ashes heroics caught the attention of many back home in Australia, including the prime minister, who hailed the Test captain as a “legend and a great Australian” after guiding his side to a famous victory in Birmingham with a nerveless batting performance.
Cummins came to the crease on the final day of play in the first Test at Edgbaston with Australia needing 72 runs to win, but with just three wickets in hand. The match was still finely poised, although England certainly had the edge.
