Argentinian back at Spurs with rivals Chelsea on MondayHe is ‘excited’ but braced for hostile welcome from crowd
Mauricio Pochettino has described returning to Tottenham on Monday as “really special” and said he will “respect” any supporter who boos him given he is now manager of Chelsea.
Pochettino spent five years at Spurs, a period in which the club finished second in the Premier League and reached the final of the Champions League. The Argentinian’s time also involved a successful move to a hugely impressive new stadium and, as such, it was no surprise to hear him speak so effusively about his first trip to the venue since he was sacked by Daniel Levy in November 2019. Pochettino is, however, braced for a crowd that once adored him to be less than warm in their welcome given he arrives aiming to guide one of their biggest rivals to victory.
