Patients are spending more time in emergency departments in New South Wales than ever before as record-high demand for urgent care puts pressure on a public health system still recovering from the pandemic.
The latest public hospital data released this week for April to June 2023 reveals 43% of patients spent more than four hours at an emergency department between arriving and leaving.
