Christian Horner says it is ‘purely a sporting decision’Liam Lawson will go back to sister team RB for season
Red Bull have confirmed they will replace their driver Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda from their sister team, RB. Lawson has been dropped before next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix after the New Zealander has completed just two races for the team.
The decision to remove the 23-year-old, not the first time Red Bull have acted with such emphatic purpose towards an underperforming driver, was blunt even by the team’s previous standards and an indication that they demand the capability to compete for the Formula One constructors’ championship as a priority. Lawson will revert to race for RB for the rest of the season.
