Tasmania’s former attorney-general has announced she will quit politics, ending a stalemate that could have forced the state’s minority Liberal government to an early election.

Elise Archer had been reconsidering her decision to resign, made on Friday after she was sacked from cabinet amid allegations of workplace bullying and for sending “inappropriate” messages.
