Thousands of Everton fans marched to Goodison Park ahead of their game against Manchester United to protest their Premier League point deduction. Everton have been docked 10 points, the heaviest punishment ever handed to a Premier League team, for breaching financial rules. This potentially puts the club at risk of relegation. The protests were well-funded, with more than £40,000 raised for the various banners and 38,000 pink cards that filled Goodison Park, impressively coordinated and executed en masse. Boos also began as soon as two men stepped on to the pitch carrying Premier League signage before kick-off.
