Global event attended by thousands of Scouts will finish early after typhoon warning
The World Scout Jamboree in South Korea will end early due to a typhoon warning, the organisers say, after thousands of scouts pulled out over an extreme heatwave.
The World Organization of the Scout Movement said on Monday it had received confirmation from South Korea’s government of the early departure for all participants in the south-western county of Buan because of the expected impact of Typhoon Khanun. That means quickly moving about 40,000 scouts from 158 countries, mostly teenagers, out of the storm’s path.
